About Dr. Sydney Pardino

Behind a mantra of a “body in motion stays in motion,” renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sydney Pardino serves as Director of Sports Medicine at the esteemed Institute of Clinical Orthopedics and Neurosciences at Desert Regional Medical Center.

In the field of sports medicine, few doctors enjoy Dr. Pardino’s sterling national reputation, evidenced by his work at the pinnacles of sport, such as the 2010 NFL Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, and the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets. Locally, Dr. Pardino serves as team physician for Cathedral City High School and the SoCal Coyotes semi-professional football team.

Dr. Pardino specializes in both non-operative and operative treatment of sports medicine injuries, arthroscopic surgery, shoulder replacement surgery, hip arthroscopic surgery for femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears, and fracture surgery.

A highly regarded expert for his fluent knowledge and vision in the ever-changing world of orthopedics, joint replacement, and sports medicine, Dr. Pardino relies on the input of his patients to ensure mutual efficacy, with the belief that “an accurate diagnosis is the result of listening to the patient.”

Dr. Pardino’s dynamic passion, communication skills, cutting-edge techniques and rapid-recovery results make him a sought-after surgeon, particularly with knee, hip and shoulder.

“Perhaps the most important part of an accurate diagnosis,” he explains, summarizing his personal mission statement, “is taking the time to know and listen to the patient, and hear their story.”

Whether on the sidelines with world-class athletes, or through his tireless volunteer efforts with non-profits, schools and youth organizations, Dr. Pardino has served his industry selflessly.

ICON Physicians: The ‘Team behind the Teams’

Dr. Pardino leads the ‘team behind the teams’ — ICON Sports Medicine physicians who strive to provide the highest level of patient care, reflective of the sophisticated techniques offered at Desert Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Pardino has swiftly become an industry leader – and the Coachella Valley standard – in the treatment of professional athletes, non-professional athletes, and recreational athletes. In addition to serving as team physician for the SoCal Coyotes semi-professional football team, Dr. Pardino also oversees care for an array of local high schools.

Under his leadership, the sports medicine division of the Institute of Orthopedics and Neurosciences of Desert Regional Medical Center continues to provide the highest standard of health care, as the valley’s only sports medicine program.

The focus includes injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system, particularly those involving the knee, shoulder, ankle and elbow. Medical illnesses related to sports activity such as concussion, post-concussion syndrome, and overuse syndrome are also treated.

DRMC Clinic and Physical Therapy offers a coordinated program geared toward diagnosis, evaluation and operative/non-operative treatment, while the ICON Sports Performance Program provides valuable information on injury prevention and performance enhancement for athletes and physically active individuals.

“This extraordinary combination of programs allows ICON to utilize a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and education of our patients,” says Dr. Pardino. “Our multidisciplinary approach, which links the expertise of specialists in orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, and orthopedic nursing insures that each patient receives the most appropriate and responsive treatment.”

World-Class Treatment

You don’t have to be a world-class athlete to enjoy world-class medical treatment. Dr. Pardino and ICON serves not just competitive athletes, but all individuals with musculoskeletal injury or pain who seek to be more active than their medical condition allows.

Dr. Pardino leads a skilled treatment team that includes a collection of orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists. DRMC also offers the highest quality services for adult and pediatric sports medicine.

Dr. Pardino treats conditions due to injury, disease, or to the normal process of aging that adversely affects an individual’s ability to participate in sports or exercise — or simply maintain an active lifestyle.
