Research Experience

2010-2011         INCIDENCE AND SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF TRICEPS TENDON

                             RUPTURES IN NFL PLAYERS

Deryk G. Jones, MD, Ochsner Clinic Foundation.  A retrospective study involving four

NFL players at our institution that sustained six distal triceps ruptures and underwent

primary surgical repair.  We are evaluating the surgical outcomes of our players versus

those seen across the NFL.  We are also describing our new surgical technique and

                          rehabilitation protocol.

2010-2011         EARLY/INTERMEDIATE CLINICAL RESULTS OF THE DEPUY

                             PRESERVATION UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

Deryk G. Jones, MD, Ochsner Clinic Foundation.  A retrospective chart review analyzing

140 patients.  We will provide preoperative and postoperative IKDC, SF-12, Lisholm, and

pain scores on the Depuy preservation UKR at one to four years out.  We are also looking

at assessing outcomes such as complication rate, stability, and patient satisfaction.

2007 -2010        OVERHEAD VERSUS UPRIGHT RANGE OF MOTION IN

                              COLLATERAL DEFICIENT ELBOWS

Virak Tan, MD, UMDNJ-NJMS. A biomechanical study using 8 cadaveric elbows to test    stability by measuring the amount of joint distraction, varus/valgus angulation, and internal/external rotation during elbow range of motion in the overhead and upright positions using the Flock of Birds; an electromagnetic tracking device that will simultaneously record position and orientation.  We believe the overhead position is more stable and safer during elbow rehabilitation.
